Business website design and development

ALODEV designs and programs custom websites for companies: company websites, e-commerce sites, and sites with a login area connected to internal software. Each site ships with structured data for Google, loads quickly on phones, can be edited by people who do not code, and is delivered with the source code, domain and accounts registered in your company's name.

Three kinds of business website

Before talking about design, decide what the website is for. The three kinds below differ in scope, timeline and how success is measured. Mixing them up causes most disputes at acceptance.

Delays usually come from content that is not ready, such as missing photos or product descriptions, so we agree a content delivery schedule in the first week.

Website, web app or mobile app

The question of whether to build an app often comes earlier than it should. A mobile app costs more than a website, must pass app store review, and users have to install it. For a company starting to digitize, a sensible order is a website so customers can find you, then a web app for internal processes, and a mobile app only once there are users who come back regularly.

What acceptance looks like

A good website is not measured by how modern it looks. It is measured by whether customers find the company on Google, open the page on a phone within seconds, understand what you do, and leave their details without friction. We agree these seven criteria up front.

Seven acceptance criteria for a business website
CriterionHow it is measured
Mobile loading speedPageSpeed Insights and Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS)
Display on every deviceChecked at phone, tablet and large-screen widths
Technical SEOTitles, descriptions, H1, sitemap, structured data, no broken pages
SecurityHTTPS, updated libraries, admin permissions, backups
Content managementStaff add posts, edit pages and change images without a developer
MeasurementAnalytics, Search Console and conversion goals such as calls and form submissions
OwnershipDomain, server and source code in your company's name

The last row is often missed when comparing quotes. Some low-priced sites run on a subscription platform or a shared theme owned by the web agency, with the domain registered in the agency's name. When the client wants to leave, it finds it has no source code and sometimes no control of its own domain.

What technical SEO means in a contract

Technical SEO does not guarantee a first-page ranking. It guarantees that Google can read and understand the site and is not penalized for technical errors. The rest is content and time. We do not promise rankings.

  • One H1 per page, with its own title and description within the length Google usually shows.
  • Structured data (JSON-LD) of the right type for each page. We do not declare ratings or figures that do not exist.
  • A sitemap that lists only pages returning 200, a correct robots.txt and canonical URLs on every page.
  • No broken internal links; old URLs are redirected with 301 when the structure changes.
  • Images sized for the screen, with alternative text and modern compression.
  • Main content present in the HTML the server returns, so pages read without JavaScript.
  • Core Web Vitals measured on a phone and recorded in the acceptance report.

WordPress, hosted platforms or custom

There is no single right answer. We build custom with Next.js and TypeScript by default, because most clients need a site connected to data or internal software. In some cases WordPress or a hosted shop platform is the better choice, and we say so at the start.

After launch

Most website incidents happen during updates, not while running quietly. We build each new version in its own folder, run it on a side port, check key URLs, scripts and styles automatically, and only then switch over, keeping the previous version so a rollback is one command. Clients who stay with us after handover get this process; clients who run the site themselves receive it as documentation.

What you receive

  • Website running on your own domain
  • Source code in your company's repository, with documentation
  • Content admin area and a user guide
  • A report of technical SEO and mobile speed measurements
  • Analytics and conversion goals set up
  • A list of 301 redirects from the old website, if there is one

Frequently asked questions

How long does a website take?

A company website usually takes 3 to 5 weeks and an online shop 5 to 8 weeks, counted from agreed requirements and available content. Sites with a login area are planned in stages.

How much does it cost?

We send a written quote after a requirements session, because cost depends on the number of pages, integrations and content. The cost estimate tool gives an indicative range as you select features.

Can we edit the content ourselves?

Yes. Every site has an admin area for posts, pages and images. Training at the end of the project follows the role of the people who will use it.

Do you guarantee a Google ranking?

No. Rankings depend on algorithms, competitors and content over time. We commit to what can be checked: technical SEO items in the report, mobile speed and error-free structured data.

Will we lose rankings if you rebuild our old site?

Only if URLs change without redirects. We list the old URLs, redirect each to its new page with 301 and check after launch.

Who owns the domain and hosting?

Your company. We help register and configure them, but the admin accounts belong to you.
